How to give memories and materials
Be Proud
How can I help?
It is time lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people, and those who came before us, had an equal place in the heritage of Britain.
In BE PROUD we explore the different ways you can play a part. Our aim is not only to create a completely new type of museum but also to change how all museums, archives and libraries address these questions.
40 years after decriminalisation, there are people old enough to be great grandparents, grandparents, parents, young adults and teenagers, and who have spent most of their adult lives lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans. But how much of the life experience of one generation is transmitted to the next? And how much is publicly shared and exhibited?
Become a Friend, a Proud Friend, or a Founder
For PROUD HERITAGE to succeed in make the transition from our research phase to the public project it is crucial we build infrastructure rapidly. We urgently need volunteers across Britain, and we urgently need your financial support. All contributions are gratefully recieved.
Develop partnershipsWe are committed to building partnerships with groups, businesses and organisations of all types.
Giving memoryAnd of course, we need your help to gather memory and memorabilia. Please have a look at the three stages of the collecting process before you start giving.
We want to hear your ideas for galleries and about material you have. We are seeking to establish a national collection, held in partnership with local public archives and local LGBT community archives (where they exist) around the country. You can register a memory, idea or a comment through the multi-purpose response form.
