Partnership Opportunities
From the very beginning we have sought to develop partnerships. We believe these are crucial to achieving our goals.
With LGBT Heritage Projects
We are committed to working in partnership with existing LGBT community heritage projects, to sharing resources between collections and to combining grass roots activity with cutting edge research and development.
With LGBT community organisations
As we develop our infrastructure and funding base we expect to be able offer support for groups that wish to record, digitise and archive their history. We are looking for partners around the country interested in piloting this work.
We are also interested in creating galleries in either PROUD MEMORIES or WALKING PROUD in association with community organisations. Where possible we would like to create a real world travelling edition.
With artists, cultural producers and activists
We are building a gallery development programme and are interested in hearing from artists, cultural producers and activists of all ages who have material or ideas.
With museums, libraries and archives
We have successfully worked with several museums or museum/gallery groups and would welcome enquiries for joint projects or requests for training programmes from museums, libraries or archives.
We are seeking to establish a national collection, held in partnership with local public archives and local LGBT community archives (where they exist) around the country. We have identified some partners but would be pleased to receive expressions of interest.
The MLA Council failed to resource our proposed subject specialist network in this area, but once independent funding is raised it is our intention to go ahead anyway. Please let us know if you wish to be involved.
With local authorities and other public bodies
We have developed a model, currently being piloted, to develop local LGBT history initiatives. After the local elections we will be announcing the launch date for a toolkit on how local authorities may make visible sites of LGBT heritage. This will be accompanied by a one-day conference. We are also looking to develop a resource bank of materials, travelling exhibitions, artists and speakers lists for use in Black History Month, Holocaust Memorial Day, LGBT History Month and throughout the year. Let us know if any of these are of interest.
With business
We are commercially-minded, and are actively seeking sponsors, and other business development opportunities.
